Tree Health & Soil Care
Healthy trees
start with
understanding.
We look at the whole picture—tree, roots, soil, growing environment, pests and disease—to understand what’s affecting your tree and determine the most appropriate next step.

How we can support tree health
Mulching
A simple change that can make a meaningful difference.
Proper mulching can help conserve soil moisture, moderate soil temperature, improve organic matter and create better conditions around the root zone.
Where appropriate, we may recommend retaining and reusing wood chips produced during tree work—putting material back into the landscape rather than hauling it away.
Best suited to
Improving root-zone growing conditions
Soil Decompaction & AirSpade
Giving roots better conditions to function.
Compacted soil can restrict the movement of air and water and make it more difficult for roots to grow.
Where compaction or below-ground conditions are a concern, an AirSpade allows us to carefully investigate and work around roots with minimal disturbance.
Best suited to
Compacted or disturbed soils
Fertilisation
Used when there's a reason—not by default.
Fertiliser can be useful when a tree has a demonstrated need or when growing conditions justify its use.
But more nutrients don't automatically mean a healthier tree. If poor growth is being caused by compaction, root damage, pests or other stressors, fertiliser may do little to address the underlying issue.
Best suited to
Nutrient deficiencies or poor growing conditions
Soil & Tissue Testing
When observation isn't enough, we investigate further.
Sometimes the cause of decline can't be determined confidently through visual assessment alone.
Where appropriate, soil, foliage or other diagnostic testing can provide additional information about nutrient availability, soil characteristics, diseases or other possible contributing factors.
Best suited to
Unclear symptoms or complex issues
Pest Management & Identification
Identify the issue, then take the right action.
Insects and other pests can stress trees or cause damage if left unmanaged. Correct identification is essential—many issues are mistaken for pests when the real cause is something else.
We focus on targeted, responsible management that supports tree health and protects beneficial organisms.
Best suited to
Pest problems or insect damage
Fungal Issues & Disease Management
Fungi are part of every ecosystem—some help, some harm.
Fungal activity can cause decay, canker, root problems or leaf disease. Understanding the type of fungus and how it's affecting the tree is key.
We assess the extent and significance of the issue, then recommend practical steps to manage risk and support long-term tree health.
Best suited to
Fungal infections or disease concerns
